Q: I've been told that workers who are on long-term sickness absence
will still be entitled to up to four weeks' holiday pay each year. Can you
confirm if this is true?


The Employment Appeal Tribunal in three conjoined appeals recently held
that, under the Working Time Regulations 1998, workers continue to accrue
entitlement to paid holidays while on long-term sick, as long as they have
given the employer proper notice to take leave.


In two of the cases the entitlement to contractual and statutory
