The Blackstone Group has agreed to buy Alliant Insurance Services, the second largest privately owned broker in the United States. The company recently acquired the US operations of Jardine Lloyd Thompson for $100m (£50m). The Blackstone Group has recently undergone a successful Initial Public Offering on the New York Stock Exchange.
