Lloyd's broker Cooper Gay has embarked on an aggressive initiative to win regionally based business in 2005 from national brokers and large provincial players. According to chief executive officer Toby Esser, the company is making a play for the 'top-100 risks' based in the UK by using the direct approach of sending teams to pitch to these firms' risk managers.

However, speaking to PB, Esser also said the move could involve partnerships with provincial brokers, which could service the clients'
