The ruling over the GISC's rule F42 may mean the route forward is temporarily blocked but regulation will come into force sooner rather than later.

General insurance regulation has been thrown right back into the
melting pot by the unholy alliance of the Institute of Insurance Brokers
and the Association of British Travel Agents.


Why unholy? Andrew Paddick and the IIB have set out their stall to create
a regulatory system for 'professional brokers', driven by a desire to set
that group - however ill-defined - apart from the great mass of people
selling general insurance regulated by the General Insurance Standards
Council.

FSCS gives first insight on increasing levy to £394m

The Financial Services Compensation Scheme has indicated its levy for 2025/26 will rise to £394m from £265m this financial year as it cited having lower surpluses to carry forward and offset bills – a factor that has benefited brokers for two years in a row.
