The one good thing about a general election is that once the votes
are counted and the new prime minister has shuffled his cabinet, the
subject disappears from the media as quickly as Santa Claus on Boxing
Day.


Unfortunately, the saga of Independent is likely to be with us for much
longer. As I open my paper each morning I am faced by cliches like "things
go dark for Bright" or headlines which indicate the involvement of the
Fraud Squad or the Stock Exchange.
