Insurance premiums placed through captives increased by 32% in 2002 for Aon's Captive Services Group.
In total, the broker saw $13.1bn (£8.4bn) premium put into captives during the same period, much of which would otherwise have been placed in traditional insurance markets.
Jonathon Grows, senior consultant at Aon's Captive Services Group, said: "It is difficult to say that all 32% would previously have been put into insurance premiums but, with such high growth rates, clearly some of the risks
