Andrew Paddick, director general of the Institute of Insurance
Brokers, will soon be asking brokers to put their hands in their pockets
to fund the launch of an Internet-based trading facility.


As with Broker Direct, Mr Paddick is planning set up a company that is
largely broker-owned and managed. He is proposing that the operation will
provide its broker shareholders with the technology to offer quotations
and full encrypted payment facilities on their own website.


Mr Paddick told PB that he has
