InsurE-com's Insurance Trends and Technology Conference has been causing some confusion lately. Billed as as in industry conference and organised by EIRB, an unsuspecting Jonathan Dipple, marketing manager of Open GI, wrote to the organisers to register. After not receiving a reply, Dipple wrote more insistently: "I have submitted requests for places twice for myself and my colleague Mr S Hughes, but as yet I have heard nothing regarding the event. Is it OK to turn up on the day? A number of our partners are exhibiting and they are keen to arrange some time with us." However, the response, when it came, left Dipple dumfounded. It said: "Apologies Mr Dipple, but the Insurance Trends 2006 conference has been organised by Insurecom. As a key competitor to ourselves, we are unable to allow your attendance at this event"!

At last month's ABI Financial Media Awards, at the Dorchester, special guest and impressionist Jon Culshaw, of BBC's Dead Ringers fame, became very excited when one of his victims Paul Lewis from Money Box won the life time achievement award. Impersonating Lewis whilst presenting an award to him - it all became very confusing!

Meanwhile, boisterous comedienne Gina Yashere who was also at the awards and was once on Fame Academy has been spotted presenting on CBBC - we hope she tones down her language for the kids!

We look forward to seeing you all on the Christmas party circuit. If any-one can beat the six invitations in a row a certain member of the Professional Broking team has received we would like to hear from you. Send your party invitations, preferably in London, to: Haymarket House, 28-29 Haymarket, London, SW1Y 4RX and we'll see how far our party shoes can take us.
