Royal & SunAlliance has teamed up with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies in a global initiative which will see the insurer provide sponsorship and support for the organisation.
As part of the partnership, RSA will make available skills and resources at both local and corporate level. It will help the federation with asset and risk management provision, particularly business continuity planning and disaster recovery.
RSA said there will also be opportunities for staff to exchange information and expertise, to participate in exchange programmes and to launch fund-raising initiatives.
Bob Mendelsohn, group chief executive of RSA, said: "Both of our organisations are involved in risk prevention and assisting people on a worldwide basis. Both provide first class disaster relief and development support following major catastrophes.
"We perceive real opportunities for knowledge transfer, as well as personal development opportunities for our people."
