As personal legal protection develops a mass-market appeal, brokers wishing to make a splash in the sector should draw attention to themselves through a strategic marketing campaign, says Ray Kneeshaw.

Personal legal protection cover has long been overshadowed by its
motor cousin, uninsured loss recovery. But the changing insurance
environment is turning the market round and catching the attention of
personal lines brokers.


Cost is frequently cited as a major reason for the failure of personal
legal protection to penetrate the market but, looking at what they offer,
it is hard to see why. Legal expenses policies are usually sold en masse
to brokers and added to household policies, with premiums
