The European Commission has announced that it will complete its inquiry into the proposed merger of motor-insurance broker AA with Saga by 10 September. The £6.2bn deal would see private equity firms Permira and CVC own 42.5% of the company and Saga-owner Charterhouse own 37.5%. The remaining 20% will be retained by the management and staff of both businesses.
