Consumer online purchases reached yet another mind-boggling milestone recently. In the 12 years since UK consumers started shopping online, they have spent a staggering £100bn. In April alone, a total of £3.47bn was spent online - 55% more than the same period last year - according to Interactive Media in Retail Group. In addition, the Financial Times reported in December last year that online sales in the 10-week run up to Christmas were expected to be £7bn, an average of £4m every hour.
