Una survey finds upcoming IPT hike already hitting buying patterns

Research also reveals almost half of consumers remain unaware of November’s tax rise.

A survey of 1,000 consumers across the UK by Una has found that a quarter of London-based respondents are already buying less insurance since the announcement of the upcoming Insurance Premium Tax (IPT) hike.

Chancellor George Osborne announced in the July Budget that the basic rate of IPT would rise from 6% to 9.5% this November.

According to the research a quarter of consumers surveyed in London said they are buying less protection with 14% claiming this is definitely the case and a further 11
