Almost 20% of CMCs closed by MoJ last year

The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) closed down around one in five claims management companies in the past year, according to figures obtained by the Law Society Gazette.

A freedom of information request made to the MoJ’s claims management regulation department by the Gazette revealed that 734 businesses were cancelled, leaving 3018 authorised businesses by the end of the financial year.

The closures may have been prompted by the 9,570 complaints from the public.
