FSA review reveals TCF issues for aggregators

Comparison Sites Screengrabs

The Financial Services Authority (FSA) has deemed it necessary to issue proposed guidance on the selling of general insurance policies through price comparison websites.

The regulator carried out a review between June and September 2010 and interested parties now have until 8 August 2011 to respond to the proposed guidance.

On its website, the FSA said: "We are proposing this guidance because we found there to be a lack of understanding within the industry generally about the regulated activity being conducted by these firms leading to failures to comply with our rules which could lead to consumers not being treated fairly."
