Communications providers will no longer be able to easily charge higher prices for calls to 0870 numbers compared to fixed-line and mobile numbers. Under a new set of rules by Ofcom, providers that wished to continue charging for these calls at higher rates would be bound to stricter requirements about how they publicised their pricing. The measures aim to reduce the cost of 0870 calls and increase consumer awareness about the issue.
