DAS Legal Expenses Insurance has seen its profits for 2004 fall, despite its income growing by 18.8%. The underwriter's 2004 profits fell from £4.3m to £4.2m, while its total income rose from £88.88m to £105.61m. DAS highlighted the failure of high-profile claims farmers in the after-the-event sector as a 'destabilising factor for the legal protection market as a whole'. It also said the introduction of fixed fees for personal injury cases has had a 'negative' impact as a whole.
