
Biba guide helps negotiate the data protection maze
The British Insurance Brokers' Association (Biba) has introduced a scheme to help brokers avoid the "mine field" of the 1998 Data Protection Act (DPA98).
The free 35 page guide, compiled by Amtex Consulting, is available on the website and designed to help brokers handle personal data in a compliant manner. According to Russell Wolak, marketing director of Amtec Consulting, brokers are in grave danger of flouting the act and incurring heavy costs if they don't manage their IT systems carefully.
