Aon Benfield to outsource claims facility

Aon Benfield has said it will outsource its UK claims and other back office operations.

According to the broker, the model, which includes a combination of internal Aon Benfield resources together with an external provider, will enable Aon Benfield to deliver a new standard of client service.

But Aon Benfield said that this would not result in its whole UK back office being outsourced to another operation. Xchanging - which it already has a 10-year outsourcing deal with - is thought to be the favourite.

Late last year Aon Benfield announced that 500-700 job losses would be made - a majority of them "non-client facing".

"Aon Benfield will retain key senior client services experts who are responsible for interacting directly with clients and ensuring that their claims, accounting, and contract wording needs are fulfilled," said Aon in a statement.

It continued: "These experts will proactively negotiate contentious claims, provide closer oversight of outsourced activities, develop innovative products and services, and provide improved levels of services in existing time lines.

"They will work with a team of reinsurance client services professionals who will transfer from Aon Benfield to the partner, improving the partner's overall post placement capabilities."

Aon Benfield's outsource provider will be announced at the end of January 2009.
