With the number of people covered by private medical insurance (PMI) breaking the six-million mark for the first time in five years, it would appear this sector is currently riding the crest of a wave. This figure is augmented by a further 1.1 million people covered through healthcare trust arrangements, putting the total number of people in the UK obtaining some form of healthcare cover to over seven million.
