Downey on the road from £300m to £4bn with SRG

Warren Downey

Specialist Risk Group is eyeing up reaching over £4bn of gross written premium post 2030, having grown from £300m to £2bn since 2019, according to CEO Warren Downey.

Downey, pictured, joined the business in September 2019. It was formed out of Pollen Street Capital’s previous purchases of Miles Smith and The Underwriting Exchange, being rebranded publicly in 2020, the year it also snapped up Square Mile Broking. When Downey came on board, the firm had 250 staff and £300m of GWP, more than 90% of which was wholesale in the UK and Ireland.
