Whiplash summit called to tackle rising motor insurance costs

Cabinet ministers are set to discuss tactics to get a grip on the soaring number of whiplash claims as the government continues to look at ways to tackle rising motor insurance costs.

Transport Secretary Justine Greening, Health Secretary Andrew Lansley, Justice Secretary Ken Clarke, Home Secretary Theresa May and Business Secretary Vince Cable will meet at a special summit to discuss the situation.

The Transport Select Committee recently pointed to the UK’s far higher rates of whiplash compared to European nations and highlighted this as a major contributor to rising motor premiums.
