Drug profiling to target commercial motor market

A new service, designed specifically to cut commercial motor insurance premiums by providing alcohol and drugs profiling of drivers, has been launched by Trimega Laboratories.

Trimega’s Fleet Profile, carried out using hair samples, could reduce premiums by confirming that commercial drivers are not alcohol or drug abusers. The hair samples, which are collected on-site or at a London walk-in clinic, provide an accurate historical record of any alcohol or drugs dependency over a three to twelve month period.

Since hair growth is fed by the bloodstream, the ingestion of drugs or excess alcohol in the blood is revealed by analysing chemical markers absorbed by the hair
