The disclosure of commissions has been thrust back into the limelight following Spitzer's inquiry into Marsh and others in the US. While there may be a case to be answered with a minority of firms, why do other industries come under less or no pressure to disclose how much profit they are making?

Asda is not required to disclose how much it makes from every can of beans it sells. Although, obviously, insurers are making a great effort to be transparent and above board in this regard ahead of regulation, the clamour for a whole new price structure seems a little over the top to me; I wonder if others agree.
