Average private motor premiums rose by £10 over the last quarter of
1998, continuing the upward trend in rates, according to the AA's
quarterly premium watch.


Household buildings and contents premiums fell by 14p. The average
comprehensive car insurance policy is now nearly £440, and
non-comprehensive is £441.


Average buildings and contents premiums have remained the same for nearly
