Aviva boosts UK operating profit and trims COR in H1
Aviva has posted a more than 40% increase in UK operating profit for the first half of 2026, coming in at £603m, pointing to “maintaining disciplined trading” across its portfolio “despite areas of market softening”.
The result was up from £422m in the same period of last year.
The UK undiscounted combined operating ratio totalled 93.4% for the six months, better than the 93.7% achieved in the same period of 2025.
Gross written premium reached £5.61bn.
Personal lines premiums nearly doubled to £3.68bn, driven by the Direct Line takeover, which completed last July, with Aviva also flagging “growth in intermediated business”.
The insurer twinned the personal lines growth with an improved COR, which went from 93.9%
