Widely regarded as the champion of the smaller intermediary and broker, Mike Slack talks to Catherine Tennant about how these players can survive in today's increasingly difficult marketplace.

Mike Slack is a busy man. As well as being full time managing
director of specialist motor trade intermediary Road Runner, he also finds
time to sit on the board of the General Insurance Standards Council and is
responsible for setting up and overseeing an intermediary trade body, the
Association of Insurance Intermediaries and Brokers.


The AIIB was established by Mr Slack in 1997, when, as an intermediary, he
found himself no longer registered with the Insurance Brokers Registration
Council and
