Still failing to deliver?

The inquiry into Equitable Life is peppered with flaws but at least it is underway - unlike a Treasury inquiry into the likes of the Independent.

When is a public inquiry not a public inquiry? When it involves
Equitable Life. Like most things involving the stricken life insurer, all
is not what it seems at first glance.


The Treasury - inspired investigation headed up by a Scottish judge, Lord
Penrose, certainly has some merits - not least taking the immediate heat
out of the situation and stepping back to examine the causes of the crisis
that engulfed Equitable Life, as well as the regulatory failures that
allowed the mistakes to multiply

Flood Re rolls out consumer campaign

Flood Re has launched a UK-wide educational tour promoting flood resilience and encouraging people to rethink the response to flood risk, with the joint initiative between the government and insurers using “the UK’s largest digital advertising van”.
