Severe storms in Northern Ireland and Scotland leave power down
Return of wintry conditions cause chaos
Rain, snow and gale force winds are causing travel chaos and power black outs in Scotland and Northern Ireland on Wednesday. Over 50,000 homes have suffered power cuts, including 30,000 in Northern Ireland, and 22,000 in Scotland with North Ayrshire the worst hit. In addition there are major traffic jams and road closures. The Met Office has issued extreme weather warnings and is forecasting severe blizzards, and snow up to 20in.
