Henri de Castries to retire from Axa

Thomas Buberl to take over CEO role.

Axa has confirmed that Henri de Castries, chairman and CEO of the insurer, will be retiring and stepping down from the board of directors on 1 September 2016 after nearly 17 years in the role.

Following de Castries retirement, Thomas Buberl will become CEO and a member of Axa's board of directors and Denis Duverne will take the role of non-executive chairman of the board of directors.
