The Office of Fair Trading has refused to reconsider its position on
dual pricing, having last month ruled that the practice of offering
different rates for the same risk is not anti-competitive.


On publication of the ruling, Ian Holt, managing director of Colney
Insurance Brokers, one of several brokers who filed complaints, went back
to the OFT stating that dual pricing should have been studied under the
1988 Competition Act, rather than the 1973 Fair Trading Act. This was
dismissed by the OFT. A
