Former Transport Secretary John MacGregor MP has been appointed to
the main board of Friends Provident as an independent director. The former
Conservative minister was a non-executive director of London & Manchester
Group prior to its take-over by Friends Provident. He holds three other
non-executive directorships, is vice-president of the Local Government
Association, a member of the Neill Committee (Committee for Standards in
Public Life) and a trustee of the Foundation for Business
responsibilities.
