In an interview in PB's sister title, Post, the chief executive of Norwich Union claimed that Axa has bought brokers in Canada and turned them into tied agents.
Igal Mayer, claimed in the magazine on 15 November that Axa bought brokers in Quebec and turned them into tied agents after five to seven years. He added that something similar could happen in the UK.
Mayer, who worked for Aviva in Canada, said: "I find it a big threat that the likes of Axa and Groupama are buying brokers. It is inevitable
