A staggering 42 homes a day are set alight deliberately according to
research published by the Arson Prevention Bureau. It is believed that
arson attacks on domestic properties have more than doubled in the last 10
years, the result of which is a £55m claims bill every year for insurance
companies.


Northern Ireland has the worst rates for arson attacks on private homes,
with 9.5 fires for every 10,000 properties. The risk of arson is believed
to be highest at the weekend, with most attacks
