South African insurance broker Alexander Forbes is to make an
application for a listing on the London Stock Exchange by the end of the
year, as part of a continuing strategy of expansion.


The company, which this year acquired professional indemnity specialist
Alfred Blackmore and most of Bradstock's retail business, will seek the
South African Finance Ministry's approval for the move by the end of
2001.


Alexander Forbes intends to increase the percentage of its earnings
