Merger master.

Tony Lancaster, chief executive of Groupama in the UK, talks to Tim Collison about the integration of Lombard and GAN, the latest of a string of mergers he has managed.

Tony Lancaster has had more than his fair share of leading companies
through mergers and restructuring programmes. In 1972, at the tender age
of 29, he merged National Employers Mutual with AFIA. In 1976, he
restructured Caribbean Home Insurance; in 1984, he merged AFIA with INA to
form Cigna; in 1991, he restructured Minster (which became GAN Minster);
then in 1992, he merged Municipal General Insurance into Minster. And now,
