Letting it all hang out.

The average holiday-maker is finding it easier to obtain travel insurance but those opting for a different type of break still often face problems. However, Diane Smyth finds brokers are beginning to realise the potential of niche markets.

Summer is in the air and as the public starts thinking of annual
summer holidays, personal lines brokers could do well to consider their
approach to travel insurance.

Travel agents have traditionally dominated this market, selling 35% of
travel insurance policies in Britain. Though their dominance may be shaken
by the General Insurance Standards Council's rules, which demand travel
agents fully explain the policies they sell, brokers would be optimistic
to think they will gain much as a result.
