Online bank Egg, has launched Egg Insure, offering motor insurance
from a panel of insurers.


Underwritten by Allianz Cornhill, Equity Red Star, Groupama, Highway,
Link, Norwich Union, Provident, Prudential and Royal & SunAlliance, the
site is scheduled to offer household insurance by September and travel
insurance by 2001.


Cox Insurance is administering the site, which features quotation engines,
payment facilities and policy administration.

ABI records 3% home premiums rise in Q1

Average home insurance premiums for buildings and contents cover rose by 3% to £375 in the first quarter of this year, pushing the year-on-year rise up to 19%, according to the Association of British Insurers.
