IBSC proposes new syllabus for the industry

Syllabus seeks to codify standards and duties and possibly lead to formal qualification.

The Insurance Brokers' Standards Council (IBSC) has produced a discussion paper for its members which explores creating a syllabus to provide greater knowledge and understanding of the industry.

The council claims the standards and duties required in the industry are not gathered together in a way that someone new or already in the profession can easily study or absorb.

According to the IBSC the new syllabus will lead to a certificate of knowledge and understanding that will focus on "the rights
