Competition Commission rules UK motor market is "not working well"

Office of Fair Trading referred the motor market to the commission back in September 2012.

The Competition Commission (CC) has found that the UK private motor insurance market is "not working well for motorists" and is now looking at ways to reduce the cost of premiums.

The Office of Fair Trading (OFT) referred the motor market to the CC in September 2012 over concerns the market may have been preventing, restricting or distorting competition.

In its provisional findings, the CC said that the "complex chain for the settlement of non-fault claims increases the costs of replacement cars
