FCA complaints fall in H1 2013 as GI grievances grow by 16,000

Consumer complaints reported by financial services firms to the regulator fell by 500,000 between the second half of 2012 and the first half of 2013.

According to figures from the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), general insurance (GI) products were the second-most complained about product in the first six months of 2013, with 313,860 grievances, or 11% of the regulator's total complaints received in H1 2013.

This was an increase from the 297,059 GI complaints made in the second half of 2012.

Meanwhile, payment protection insurance (PPI) was the most complained about product in the first six months of 2013, with 1.8m reports made. This
