Millionth uninsured vehicle to be taken off road
The Motor Insurance Bureau (MIB) has predicted that police in Birmingham will today seize the millionth uninsured vehicle in the UK as part of an operation to disrupt criminal activity.
According to the MIB, Bordesley in Birmingham continues to dominate the hotspot ranks for uninsured driving and has eight times the number of motorists driving vehicles without insurance compared to the national average.
The MIB noted that, since the police were granted powers to seize uninsured vehicles in 2005, of the 500 vehicles seized each day an estimated 30% were crushed.
