Hiscox has been awarded corporate chartered insurer status by the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) for their London market business.

Russell Merrett, managing director of Hiscox London market, said: “Hiscox has a long history of demanding professionalism from our staff and we are passionate about passing on our collective underwriting wisdom.

“In a competitive global market place, there is no doubt that professional standards and practices are a pre-requisite for a profitable future.”

Hiscox stated that all underwriters entering the company were required to sit exams with the CII.

The provider added that it offered a technical programme that had been developed and delivered by its own senior underwriters, which was open to the claims and underwriting teams.
