Motor fraud on rise
According to figures from TCF Motor the number of fraudulent motor theft claims has increased year on year
More than a fifth of motor theft claims are fraudulent, according to new research by TCF Motor.
The company, which analysed a sample of 8,000 insurance claims, detected fraud in 22.9% of motor theft claims in the first nine months of 2009, compared to 18.4% in the same period last year.
Fraud detected on motor theft claims in the full year of 2008 stood at 18.6% and 11.25% in 2007.
Tony Jones, client services director at TCF Corporate, said the figured revealed a “significant increase”, stating
