CGU has scrapped this year's Elite conference and is replacing the
bi-annual event with regional hospitality at the discretion of local area
directors. A spokesman for CGU said the decision to cancel the October
event had been taken because the merger of CGU and Norwich Union is not
due to be finalised until June, which would not have left enough time to
organise the conference. CGU Elite has about 700 members.
