Don't give up on regulation.
The travel industry may have won the initial battle over regulation but the war is not over. The insurance industry must try to keep the debate open.
I suppose it was inevitable - the travel agents won.The vast lobbying power of the travel industry once again triumphed and
travel agents have been let off the statutory regulation hook. How did
this happen? Is it just a temporary reprieve, as some are suggesting, or
is it set in stone?
A closer look at how Treasury minister Paul Boateng announced the decision
shows just what a mess the Treasury has got itself in over general
insurance regulation. For Boateng justified the exclusion of travel
