The path to perfect PI

Companies can avoid dead ends on the long and winding road to acquiring professional indemnity cover by being more proactive and putting risk management systems in place, says Trevor Moss.

There has been a lot of talk recently about professional indemnity
insurance and how hard it is for certain professions to get cover. It
should be reiterated, however, that PI is not compulsory for all
professionals.


The government only insists on PI insurance for solicitors (where
compulsory PI insurance is enshrined in the Solicitors Act) and the
medical professions (under the auspices of the NHS and the medical defence
unions).


However, while it is not government legislation for all professions
