Direct motor insurer Admiral Insurance Services has been put up for
sale by the Brockbank Group, owned by Bermuda-based Mid Ocean Re.

It is understood that the Lloyd's motor insurer has been put on the market
in readiness for Mid Ocean's takeover by Bermudian rival Exel. A UK
personal lines insurer would not fit with Exel's international book of
business.

Admiral commands a gross written premium of about £100m and Brockbank is
believed to already be in negotiations with several interested
parties.
