Sir Patrick Gilliam has stepped down as chairman of Royal &
SunAlliance after six years. He was succeeded by John Napier, chairman of
Yorkshire Water-owner Kelda. Mr Napier joined RSA as a non-executive
director in January. Andy Haste joins the company as chief executive on 2
April, replacing Bob Mendelsohn, who left with a £1m pay-off in September.
This month RSA posted a group operating loss of £655m for 2002, compared
with a loss of £293m in 2001.
