As 2002 draws to a close, Rachel Gordon checks out the major events of the past 12 months and urges brokers to take note of issues facing the industry in 2003.

Christmas is coming and as brokers prepare to put their feet up and
get ready for 2003, many will be relieved their businesses have survived
what has been a tumultuous year.


The liability crisis, fears of insurer solvency and the looming spectre of
regulation from the Financial Services Authority are all issues that have
tested brokers to their limits. And as 2002 draws to a close, yet another
name could be disappearing from the market - NIG has announced it is
taking over NFU Mutual-owned Avon's
